Single Stem Tibetan Cherry Tree | Prunus serrula

  • Calling all bark fans! The Tibetan cherry is an absolute standout, with lustrous, coppery hues that bring a much-needed shot of vibrancy to the winter landscape.
  • Also known as the Birch Bark Tree, Paperbark and Cellophane Bark Cherry, it's got more aliases than David Bowie...
  • As the tree grows, it peels off in translucent strips that look like stained glass. After a few years the trunk will also develop deep lenticels (bumpy lines), adding a tactile appeal.
  • In spring, you'll see clusters of flowers that bees love! Following that, green foliage emerges, turning golden in autumn. Ornamental cherries appear in autumn, turning from red to white as they ripen.
  • A low-maintenance tree which is happy in any moist but well-drained soil (apart from chalk) and won't need much pruning. Team it with silver birch to bring out the colour of both trees.
  • Our mature trees are grown in Air-PotsÂź, the only type of pot to completely eliminate root circling. A unique design stimulates air pruning for a mass of healthy fibrous roots, which results in a healthy tree that will establish quickly in your garden. With each Air-PotÂź made to last up to 20 years, we reuse them on the nursery and wrap your mature tree in hessian for delivery - but if you’d rather keep your tree potted, simply add an Air-PotÂź to your basket along with your tree.
